Vol. 166 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - An Uaimh Vocational School.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the great handicap under which the Meath Vocational Education Committee are working in An Uaimh though having to hire many unsuitable buildings to house their many classes; and whether, in view of this great handicap, he intends to sanction the immediate erection of the proposed new school for which preliminary approval has been given by his Department.

I am aware of the difficulties of accommodation attending the conduct of vocational classes at An Uaimh, but owing to shortage of capital in recent years it was found necessary to defer the provision of a new school at that centre in favour of more urgent projects. The position is constantly under review and the provision of the new school at An Uaimh will be authorised as soon as the necessary capital can be made available.
