Vol. 167 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Mayo Holding.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the stage proceedings had reached for the acquisition of the holding of Staunton (or Nevin), Drumalaheen, Castlebar; and, if the Land Commission decided to discontinue such proceedings, the date of the decision.

The proceedings had reached the price-fixing stage when difficulties arose in tracing the next-of-kin for services of the statutory notices. On a general review of the position, the Land Commission decided on 24th June, 1957, to take no further action.

Could the Minister give me the date of the decision to acquire?

Proceedings were instituted in 1949.

The decision to acquire came some time later. The Minister might have that in the private information.

Put a question down.

It would not be too much to ask the Minister to give that information now.

It would not be, but why not have it written out?

The Minister for Defence is more courteous than the Minister for Health.

That may be, but why not write it out?
