Vol. 167 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Parent-Teacher Advisory Committees.

asked the Minister for Education if he will take the steps necessary to allow for the promotion of parent-teacher advisory committees to assist the school managers in running primary schools.

Under the existing system of national education the managers are the persons charged with the direct government of the schools. I am not aware that managers desire the assistance of advisory committees in the discharge of their managerial duties or that the necessity for any such assistance arises. I do not propose to make any change in the present arrangement.
