Vol. 168 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal Forestry Land.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the large tract of land at Magheramore, Clonmany, County Donegal, offered to his Department for forestry purposes has been inspected; whether the land has been found suitable; and, if so, when acquisition will take place.

An area of 291 acres in the townland of Churchland Quarters, known locally as Magheramore Commonage, was offered to my Department for forestry purposes in 1953, inspected and found unsuitable for planting. A number of others areas in the district were inspected at the same time and also found generally unsuitable. The position regarding one of the areas, 51 acres in extent, is at present being reviewed but no decision in the matter has yet been reached.
