asked the Minister for Finance how the directors of the Irish Assurance Company are appointed.

The directors of the Irish Assurance Company, in which the Minister for Finance holds a majority of the share capital, are elected by the shareholders in general meeting in accordance with the articles of association of the company. The board of the company has power under the articles to fill a casual vacancy but any such appointment requires confirmation at the next following general meeting.
