Vol. 173 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Rural Electrification.

14.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when the E.S.B. will extend the rural electrification scheme to the Gaeltacht districts of Ventry and Ballyferriter parishes, County Kerry.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that there has been no change in the position with regard to the development of the Ballyferriter rural area, which includes Ventry, since my reply to a similar question by the Deputy on the 2nd December, 1958.

15.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce how soon the E.S.B. will commencce to extend rural electrification to the districts of Rathea, Lyreacrompane, Renagown and Finuge in the North Kerry area.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the districts of Rathea, Lyreacrompane, Renagown and Finuge are included in the Rathea rural area which has been considered for selection by the board on a number of occasions but has not so far been selected as the returns for the area did not compare favourably with those for other areas awaiting development in the board's Tralee district. The area will be reconsidered by the board in due course and the decision of the board will depend on how the returns then compare with those for other areas awaiting development in the Tralee district.
