Vol. 175 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Application of Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts.

3.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there is any difference in the manner of application of the Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts in Dublin city and in Dublin county, with particular reference to valuations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The administration of the small Dwellings (Acquisition) Acts is a function of each housing authority concerned subject to the relevant statutory provisions. I understand that advances under the Acts are not made by Dublin County Council in respect of houses exceeding a gross price of £2,000 or having ground rents in excess of £10 a year. I am not aware of any difference in the basis of assessment of market value for the purpose of the Acts as between the housing authorities named.

Is it open to the council to fix a ceiling?

Yes, provided it is within the general run, as it is in this case.
