Vol. 177 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Simplification of Frontier Formalities.

42.

asked the Minister for External Affairs what steps he proposes to take towards the simplification of frontier formalities as recommended by the Council of Europe so as to bring the policy more into line with that of many countries of continental Europe.

As far as I am aware, our policy in relation to the simplification of frontier formalities, a subject which covers a wide range of matters, is not markedly out of line with that of other member countries of the Council of Europe, except where there are special reasons for maintaining the existing practice.

If the Deputy considers that further action could be taken in respect of any particular matter in this field and if he will so inform me I shall be happy to have his representations examined.
