Vol. 178 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Subway Pedestrian Crossings in Dublin.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, as a step to ease traffic problems in the city of Dublin and in the interests of road safety, he will explore the possibility of having subway pedestrian crossings installed at busy road junctions.

This matter would be one for consideration by the Dublin Corporation in the first instance. I understand that the question of providing such subways was in fact considered some years ago by a committee of the Corporation and that the proposal was rejected.

The Corporation have recently taken initial steps to have a comprehensive traffic survey carried out and it is possible that the question of subways may again come up for consideration in that connection.
