Vol. 179 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Exports of Feeding Barley.

33.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state in respect of last year's crop of feeding barley (a) the total amount exported to date, (b) the countries to which it was exported, (c) the price per ton paid at the point of landing, (d) the body responsible for the exports, and (e) who benefited by any profit or suffered any loss in the transactions.

Approximately 20,000 tons of barley of the 1959 crop were exported to the Six Counties, Great Britain, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and the United States of America during the period ended 31st January last. These exports were effected through the usual trade channels and I am not, therefore, aware of the prices at the points of landing or the profit or loss involved.

I may add for the Deputy's information that the average f.o.b. price of the barley was £21 15 0 a ton.
