Vol. 182 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Director of Government Information Bureau.

2.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Taoiseach the name of the present Director of the Government Information Bureau, the date of his appointment, his present salary, and the total amount paid out of public funds to him since he was appointed; and what special qualifications he has for the post and any positions previously held by him and specially created in respect of which he received remuneration from public funds.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply to a question addressed in this House on 20th November, 1957, to my predecessor and in particular to the details given at (b), (c), (f), (g), (h) and (i) of that reply.

Since 20th November, 1957, the salary scale of the Director, Government Information Bureau, has been revised to £995 × 35—£1,215 and the inclusive equivalent has been revised to £1,360—£1,645 in line with the revisions of the remuneration of civil servants on similar scales. His present inclusive annual salary is £1,495. The total remuneration paid to him since his appointment is £4,178.

The only position previously held by the Director and specially created for him in respect of which he received remuneration from public funds was that referred to at (h) of the previous reply.
