Vol. 544 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tourism Industry.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

214 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if a firm (details supplied) in County Donegal received funding from his Department; if his attention has been drawn to the potential problems facing tourists who booked through this firm and whose reservations may not be honoured; the steps he intends to take to assist such people; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28114/01]

This company has not received any funding from my Department. While I regret any potential problems facing tourists who have dealt with this organisation on a commercial basis, neither Bord Fáilte nor my Department has any function in relation to the regulation of operations such as this. Depending on the nature of the relationship between the company and the client, such matters may be dealt with by either the Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs or the Commissioner for Aviation Regulation.
