Vol. 183 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wexford Housing Requirements.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received any recent communication from the Wexford Corporation with regard to the number of houses required in Wexford town.

No such communication has been received from Wexford Corporation since they were asked on the 16th May last to submit detailed information in regard to housing needs in the town.

Is the Minister aware that following his reply on this subject about a month ago, it was brought to the notice of the Wexford Corporation that the Minister said that only 13 houses were needed for the town? Is he aware that this figure was denied by the county manager and other officials and members of the corporation, some of whom volunteered that at least 90 houses were required? Further, will the Minister state where he got the figure of 13 which he gave in the last reply on the subject?

So far as I can ascertain here, the figure was submitted on 11th May by the Wexford Corporation.

Submitted by the Wexford Corporation?

That is what I have here.

There is something wrong somewhere.

In further reply to the Deputy, there was an inquiry made by telephone but there was no official communication, in regard to the information sought on 16th of last month. We understand that due to the local elections and so on, things have been somewhat help up but we hope to have the information furnished to us in the very near future.
