asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the financial surplus on the working of the telephone section of his Department in each of the financial years from 1950 to 1960.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the information required.

Following is the statement:

The surplus or deficit on the telephone service in each of the financial years 1949/50 to 1958/59, as shown in the published Commercial Accounts, was as follows:—
