Vol. 186 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Service Extension.

4.

andGeneral MacEoin asked the Minister for Justice if he is ready to consider extending to members of the Garda Síochána who are in possession of a service medal without bar the same conditions as now apply to members who are in possession of service medal with bar by granting them an extension of service for two years after reaching the age of sixty-three years.

In reply to a similar question on 17th November last, I stated that the question of amending the Garda Síochána Retirement Regulations so as to enable members who hold medals without Bar to serve to 65 years had been considered but that it had been decided that such a concession should not be granted. I have nothing to add to this.
