With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 27 and 28 together.
The existing Dublin South (East) constituency contains the portion of the Rathfarnham Ward lying to the east of a line drawn along Dartry Road. The remaining part of the Ward is included in the Dublin South (West) constituency. It is proposed by the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 1961, to incorporate the entire Ward in the new Dublin South-East constituency.
The portion of the Rathmines West Ward lying to the east of a line commencing at a point in the Ward boundary due north of the middle of Rathmines Road Lower, thence southerly along Rathmines Road Lower and Upper to the Ward boundary, is included in the existing Dublin South (East) constituency. The remaining portion of the Ward is in the Dublin South (West) constituency. It is proposed to include the entire Ward in the new Dublin South-West constituency under the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 1961.
Maps showing the boundaries of the existing constituencies and those proposed under the Bill are in the Oireachtas Library.
The explanatory memorandum is not inaccurate with reference to the Dublin South-East and Dublin South-West constituencies. No alteration in these constituencies was made after the explanatory memorandum was prepared.
