Vol. 189 No. 1

Written Answers. - Harbour Development and Coast Erosion.

27.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether in view of the cost involved in having models made and tested outside the country, any thought has been given to the possibility of establishing in the State a research centre with proper equipment for research into problems connected with Irish harbour development and coast erosion.

The establishment of such a centre has not been contemplated because expenditure involved in having models made and tested, outside the country, has not been and is never likely to be necessary on a scale which would warrant the very considerable cost of establishing and operating a fully equipped research centre for the purpose in this country.
