Vol. 189 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Density of Dublin Houses and Flats.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government if Dublin Corporation has taken any action on the recommendation of the Housing Committee in 1953 to the effect that central city flats should be built to a density of 160 habitable rooms per acre, and houses to an overall density of 10 to an acre.

It is understood that Dublin Corporation decided in 1953, following discussions between officers of my Department and the Corporation of the recommendations made by the Housing Committee referred to by the Deputy, that a maximum density of 100 habitable rooms per acre for central City flats and the existing maximum density of 12 cottages per acre represented satisfactory densities on planning and economic grounds.
