Vol. 189 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prices of Pharmaceutical Products.

3.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has completed his enquiries as to the reasonableness, or otherwise, of the prices of pharmaceutical products; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I informed the Deputy in a reply to a previous question, the prices in this country of most pharmaceutical products are approximately the same as the prices prevailing in Britain and the Six Counties. The prices of a limited number of drugs, which are not manufactured in this country and are not subject to customs duty, appear to me to be unduly high and I am pursuing the question of securing a reduction in these prices.
