Vol. 191 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Housing.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government what proposals are before his Department from the Dún Laoghaire Corporation for additional houses in the Dún Laoghaire Borough; what schemes have been sanctioned this year; if he is aware of the need for additional houses; and what schemes he expects to approve before the end of the year.

There is no proposal before my Department at present for the erection of additional houses by Dún Laoghaire Corporation. On 3rd June, 1961, I informed the Corporation that no objection would be raised to their proposal to proceed with the erection of a further 44 houses at "Boley," Abbey Road, Monkstown, where 46 houses are at present in course of erection. A proposal in regard to acceptance of a tender for these further houses is awaited. I have no precise information as to the extent of the additional need. I have, however, requested the housing authority to make a survey of the remaining unfit houses in their area and I understand that this is being carried out.
