Vol. 192 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Development of Tipperary Bog.

36.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether he is aware that Bord na Móna have in their possession a large unworked tract of turbary at Laffans Bridge, Thurles, County Tipperary; that this turbary has been marked and pegged out for the last four years; and that no further development work has since taken place; and whether the Board propose to commence operations on this bog in the near future and provide badly-needed employment in the area.

I am informed by Bord na Móna that there are no bogs in the Board's possession at Laffans Bridge, Co. Tipperary, which have not been developed.

Three small bogs in the area, known as Killeen, Ballintogher and Lanespark, were surveyed by the Board some years ago and were marked and pegged for survey purposes only. These bogs have not been acquired by the Board.
