Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Film Industry: State Fund.

48.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether his attention has been drawn to a speech made by Mr. Dónal Ó Moráin, Chairman of Gael-Linn at University College, Galway, on 13th November, in which he advocated the establishment of a State fund to start an Irish film industry; and whether he is prepared to entertain the idea of establishing a fund on the lines suggested by Mr. Ó Moráin.

I have seen a report of the speech referred to in the Question. If detailed proposals of what the speaker had in mind are submitted to me, I will have them examined. I cannot, of course, at this stage, anticipate what the outcome will be.
