Vol. 192 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Jobs.

3.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Taoiseach the average number of new jobs created in each of the periods 1922-32, 1933-42 and 1942-52, and in 1952-61 to the latest available date.

The only available estimates of new jobs created date from 1st January, 1957. These relate to new industrial undertakings and extensions of existing undertakings, involving a capital investment of not less than £10,000, which came to the notice of the Minister for Industry and Commerce as having commenced production since that date. Up to 30th September, 1961, the estimated initial employment involved in these projects was 10,800 and estimated potential employment 18,400.
