Vol. 192 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Servants' Superannuation.

75.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a servant of a local authority (particulars supplied) who applied for the benefits of the Local Government (Superannuation) Act, 1956 on 9 May 1961 has not yet been granted any benefit by the local authority; that the servant submitted in support of his claim an affidavit of service with one local authority and particulars of service with other local authorities as supplied to him on request; and that the servant has pensionable service in the period 1926 to 1961; and if he will take all necessary steps to ensure that this claim and others for superannuation benefit will be considered within a reasonable period by local authorities.

The grant of a superannuation award is a matter for the local authority concerned and I have no function except where a statutory appeal is submitted to me.

I am drawing the attention of the local authority concerned to the Deputy's representations in this particular case.
