Vol. 193 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Flooding.

69.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will ensure that urgent steps will be taken to protect the land of Mr. William Hayes of clonbrick, Monard, County Tipperary and the land of others in the same district from the serious flooding to which they are at present subject owing to the lack of drainage in the River Cauteen area.

Drainage of the Cauteen River can be undertaken by the Commissioners of Public Works only as part of a comprehensive scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act 1945 for the Mulkear Catchment in which it lies. The Mulkear is scheduled for treatment but it will be some time before it can be reached in the programme.
