Vol. 194 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Development in South West Cork.

62.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate the road development in South West Cork for which full grants will be made available in the coming financial year.

So far as the Road Fund is concerned, the regional distribution of the normal road improvement grants within a county and the selection of the works to be undertaken under them are matters for decision in the first instance by the county council. The allocation of the 1962/63 improvement grants is at present under consideration and the details will be notified shortly to the Cork County Council and all other road authorities.

As the Deputy may be aware, the Cork County Council have been allocated a special grant of £60,000 per annum for three years, from 1961/62, under the scheme of grants for roads affected by recent railway closings; this grant will be spent in the West Cork area.
