I am not in a position to give separate figures for (a) heating and (b) cleaning of national schools. Of the £215,000 shown in Subhead C6 of the Vote for Primary Education in the 1962/63 Estimates, £135,000 is for grants towards the cost of heating and cleaning, and £80,000 is for grants towards the cost of painting.
No provision was made in 1961/62, or previously, for grants for the painting of national schools. Accordingly the total amount shown in this Subhead in the 1961/62 Estimates, i.e. £132,000, was for grants towards the cost of heating and cleaning.
