Vol. 195 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Holidays with Pay for Insurance Agents.

12.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether in view of the fact that many whole-time insurance agents are not allowed annual holidays with pay he will make an early order under Section 3 (3) of the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1961 confirming the entitlement of such persons to holidays.

I have had under consideration for some time now the position in relation to the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1961, of full-time insurance agents paid by way of commission, and consultations have been held with representatives of employers and employees concerned.

This examination has reached an advanced stage and I will make known my decision on the matter at the earliest possible date.
