The scientific work carried out under Subhead C.1 of the Fisheries Vote in 1961-62 included, in the wet fish category, intensive sampling of herrings and examination of their biological characteristics, a study of current movements in relation to dispersal of larvae and investigation of whiting stocks. In the shellfish category, work on growth of lobsters was continued, samples of Dublin Bay prawns and common prawns were examined and oyster stocks on different beds were investigated.
