89.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state in respect of each of the constituent colleges of the National University of Ireland and Trinity College, Dublin, the total number of full-time students attending in the last academic year for which figures are available; and how many of these are (a) resident within thirty miles of the college, (b) from within a thirty miles radius of (i) Cork, (ii) Galway and (iii) Limerick, (c) from the remainder of the State, (d) from Northern Ireland, (e) from England, Scotland and Wales and (f) from other foreign countries.

andMr. Jones asked the Minister for Education the total number of full-time students attending, in the last academic year for which figures are available, at each of the constituent colleges of the National University of Ireland and Trinity College, Dublin; and how many of these are (a) resident within thirty miles of the college, (b) from within a thirty miles radius of (i) Cork, (ii) Galway, and (iii) Limerick, (c) from the remainder of the State, (d) from Northern Ireland, (e) from England, Scotland and Wales and (f) from other foreign countries.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state in respect of the latest academic year for which such statistics are available the number of full-time students attending University College, Dublin, the residence of whose parents or guardians is (1) within thirty miles of (a) Dublin, (b) Cork, (c) Galway and (d) Limerick, (2) in the remainder of the State, (3) in Northern Ireland, (4) in Great Britain and (5) in other foreign countries; and if he will give similar figures in respect of University College, Cork and University College, Galway.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 89, 90 and 91 together. I regret that no particulars are available as to the numbers of University students whose homes are situated within a thirty miles radius of Limerick. The other particulars requested by the Deputies are set out in a tabular statement which I propose to have circulated with the Official Report.

asked the Minister for Education in respect of each of the years 1932, 1942, 1952 and 1962 (a) the total numbers of students, (b) the number of full-time students, and (c) the number of post-graduate students in (i) University College, Dublin, (ii) University College, Cork, (iii) University College, Galway and (iv) Dublin University.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 94 and 95 together.

The figures requested by the Deputy are not available. However, I have asked the authorities of all the University Colleges to furnish me with the information required and will forward it to the Deputies as soon as possible.

andMr. Jones asked the Minister for Education the number of matriculated students who applied for admission to the various constituent colleges of the National University of Ireland in 1962 for whom places were not available in the faculty of their choice.

asked the Minister for Education the number of matriculated students who applied for admission to each of the constituent colleges of the National University of Ireland, and the number in each case for whom places were not available in the faculty of their choice.

The information requested by the Deputies is not available at present. I have, however, requested the authorities of the colleges concerned to furnish the relevant figures for the current academic year and I will convey the information to the Deputies as soon as possible.
