Vol. 197 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Road Traffic Regulations.

32.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government when he expects to be in a position to publish a comprehensive book containing the bye-laws and regulations made under the Road Traffic Act, 1961; and if he will state the number of such bye-laws or regulations made or contemplated to date.

Twelve orders, regulations and bye-laws have been made under the Road Traffic Act, 1961, and particulars of them will be given in the first annual statement which will indicate not only the orders, etc., made under the 1961 Act, but also those made under the 1933 Act which still apply. This statement will be published in the near future.

Regulations on three further subjects are at present being prepared. Regulations on other matters will follow in due course. The making of bye-laws under the Act is a matter for the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána and there are no such bye-laws before me for my consent. However, as I announced in my Estimates speech, a number of these are under consideration by the Commissioner at present, and it is expected that parking bye-laws relating to Dublin city and county will be submitted in the near future.
