Vol. 198 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mountmellick (Laois) Water Supply.

55.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that there is serious dissatisfaction regarding the water supply position in Mountmellick and district, County Laois; if he will make arrangements to ensure that there is no further failure in maintaining the required water supply for the town; and if he will instruct the local authority to give notice to the residents when the supply is being cut off.

I have had no complaints regarding the adequacy of this supply, but I understand that it may need augmentation to meet growing demands from industrial and other consumers and that the matter is being considered by the county council. The question of notice to consumers before cutting off a supply is one for the sanitary authority.

Question No. 56 postponed.
