Vol. 198 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo Public Lighting System.

57.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the local dissatisfaction with the present lighting arrangements in Sligo town and of the fact that road accidents have recently occurred there during lighting-up hours, he will arrange with Sligo Corporation to have the lighting system improved by having the main streets, such as Pearce Road and the Mall, provided with lights on each side of the thoroughfare or with central overhead lighting.

Undertaking improvements of the public lighting system in Sligo town is a matter for the Sligo Corporation. I understand that some improvements are in progress and that a further scheme for the main traffic routes is under consideration.
