Vol. 198 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Fish-Processing Plant.

34.

asked the Minister for Lands the conditions under which he proposes to sell or lease the fish-processing plant at Galway.

As indicated in reply to a Question by Deputy M.P. Murphy on 29th November, the conditions on which An Bord Iascaigh Mhara would accept proposals for the acquisition of three fish processing establishments advertised by the Board, including that at Galway, remain for negotiation.

If a surplus of fish is landed at Galway at certain periods, will private enterprise guarantee to accept it?

I do not see what relevance that question has.

I should like to remind the Minister that on several occasions I had to ring the Department to get surplus fish accepted. Will the same thing have to be done for private enterprise or will the Minister guarantee that the fish will be accepted?

Will the Minister state if he has had many offers to purchase the three plants, and is the competition as good as I hope it is?

I do not propose to state anything at the present time.
