Vol. 198 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Allotment.

67.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in relation to County Galway the number of acres that have already been allotted by the Land Commission during the current financial year, the number of acres which will be allotted before April 1963, and the location of the lands in question.

68.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in relation to the South Riding of Tipperary the number of acres that have already been allotted by the Land Commission during the current financial year, the number of acres which will be allotted before April 1963, and the location of these lands.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 67 and 68 together.

Already this year, lands aggregating 1,731 acres in County Galway and 142 acres in Co. Tipperary (S.R.) have been allotted by the Land Commission. The land settlement programme for the remainder of the financial year is necessarily still tentative and it is not possible at this stage to indicate precisely the particular lands which will be disposed of by next April. Perhaps in the circumstances, it would meet the Deputies requirements to know that for the year as a whole it may be possible to achieve allotments in the region of 7,000 acres in the County Galway and 1,500 acres in County Tipperary (S.R.).

If the Deputies are interested in any particular estates, I would suggest that they communicate direct with the Land Commission in the matter.
