asked the Taoiseach the average retail prices at (a) mid-February, 1957, and (b) the latest date for which information is available of (i) bread (two lb. loaf), (ii) Irish creamery and farmers' butters, (iii) tea, (iv) sugar, (v) coal, and (vi) household flour.

With your permission, Sir, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the national average retail prices of the commodities specified at mid-February, 1957, and mid-February, 1963, the latest available date.

Following is the statement:—
