Vol. 202 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - British Butter imports.

4.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if his attention has been drawn to statements that Britain has extended improved trading relations for the import of butter from Denmark; and if he will make representations to the British Government to extend this country's tariff-free quota forthwith.

I have seen press reports to this effect.

As to the second part of the question, we have made strong representations to the British Government for an increase in our current butter quota.

Are there any prospects that they will be favourably received?

It would not appear so, up to the present.
