Vol. 202 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Survey of Dairying Industry.

5.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether his attention has been drawn to the statements made by the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society regarding the recent survey report on the dairying industry; and whether he has any comment to make on this matter.

I have seen the statements referred to. I have no comment to make at this stage.

When does the Minister propose to comment?

The study group has had one meeting and the report to which the Deputy refers has been circulated to a number of organisations, all of whom are expected to make their comments. The report referred to in the question is from one of the organisations. The study group will meet again in June and have general discussions on all the different comments from the different organisations, which amount to about 16 in all.

Am I to assume that the Minister will make a statement when the other organisations have submitted their views?

The Minister will be obliged at such time as is appropriate to deal with the matter.
