Vol. 203 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Home-Produced and Imported Beer.

23.

asked the Minister for Finance the total (a) quantity and (b) value of (i) home-produced, and (ii) imported beer for the financial year 1962-63.

The approximate net quantities of home-produced and imported beer retained for home use in the financial year 1962-63 were 897,560 and 26,450 standard barrels respectively.

I have no information as to the values corresponding to the above quantities. The Deputy might, however, wish to refer to the figure for personal expenditure on beer in the year 1962 given in reply to a question by Deputy Jones on 4th April, 1963 —Vol. 201, No. 8, Col. 1128.

24.

asked the Minister for Finance the total tax revenue for the year 1962-63 from (a) home-produced and (b) imported beer.

The approximate net receipts of Customs and Excise duty for the financial year 1962-63 were £10,475,000 from home-produced beer and £310,000 from imported beer.
