asked the Minister for Finance the total consumption in (a) quantity and (b) value of spirits which were (i) home-produced and (ii) imported, and the total tax-revenue from spirits in the year 1962-63.

As the reply includes a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

asked the Minister for Finance the total consumption in (a) quantity and (b) value of home-produced (i) Irish whiskey, (ii) gin, and (iii) vodka for the year 1962-63; and if he will give similar figures for (a) wine, (b) table waters and (c) cider and perry.

Home-produced wine is not liable to duty and particulars of such wine retained for home use are not available. Neither is information available as to the values corresponding to the above quantities but some figures for personal expenditure in the year 1962 on spirits and wine including cider, etc. were given in a reply to a question by Deputy Jones on 4th April, 1963—Vol. 201, No. 8, Col. 1128. The figure for personal expenditure on table waters in that year is not available.
