Vol. 203 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Pay Claim.

101.

asked the Minister for Justice whether there have been any developments in the pay claim by members of the Garda Síochána since a reply of 12th March, 1963.

102.

asked the Minister for Justice when he expects a decision on the Garda pay claim application; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 101 and 102 together.

On 12th March, I informed the House that pay claims from the three bodies representing the ranks of the Garda Síochána covered by the Garda Síochána Conciliation and Arbitration Scheme had been recently considered by the Garda Síochána Conciliation Council and that disagreement was recorded in each case. Since then, two claims have been submitted for consideration by the Garda Síochána Arbitration Board, one by the Representative Body for Gardaí on 25th April and the other by the Representative Body for inspectors, station sergeants and sergeants on 2nd May. These claims together with official counter-statements will be transmitted shortly for consideration by the Arbitration Board.
