asked the Minister for Justice the number of persons returned for trial on indictable offences, other than offences under the Road Traffic Act, 1961, to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in each of the past five years, and to the nearest available date in the current year.

The statistics available relate to the number of cases dealt with on indictment, particulars of which for the years ended 30th September are as follows:

No figures are available for the period subsequent to 30th September, 1962. I may point out that Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 did not come into operation until the 1st October, 1961.
