Vol. 203 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Concert Hall.

54.

asked the Minister for Local Government what is the present position regarding the provision of a concert hall for Dublin city.

There is no proposal before my Department bearing on the provision of a concert hall for Dublin City. I understand, however, that Dublin Corporation has received an application from Concert and Assembly Hall Ltd. for a grant of £150,000 towards the cost — estimated at £450,000—of providing a concert hall in the city and that the Finance Committee of the City Council are deferring a recommendation on the application until a project for the provision by the Royal Dublin Society of accommodation for concerts, conferences, etc., at Ballsbridge has been completed. The City Council have noted the course adopted by the Finance Committee.
