Vol. 204 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Barytes Mines.

12.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, should the Barytes Mines in the Clonakilty area, County Cork be reopened, he will ensure that all the technical assistance and grants are made fully available to the relevant company.

In 1961, I approved of a Technical Assistance grant to Lady's Well Barytes Ltd to enable it to carry out exploration and development work in the barytes mine at Duneen Bay, Clonakilty. I understand that the company has been proceeding with the work for which the grant was approved. I hope, as a result of these operations, that it will be found possible to resume the production of barytes in this locality.
