Vol. 205 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork City Housing Schemes.

32.

asked the Minister for Local Government the cause of the delay in approving of Cork Corporation's proposals for development works to provide for 30 private building sites at Mayfield, Cork.

An immediate decision could not be given on the Corporation's proposal, as originally submitted, because it was not accompanied by certain technical details relating to levels, roads and sewers which were necessary for the proper consideration of the project. When these were provided by the local authority, the matter was cleared without undue delay.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government the cause of the delay in confirming the compulsory purchase order in respect of Cork Corporation's scheme for Pouladuff road.

The Pouladuff Road Compulsory Purchase Area Housing Order No. 1 of 1963 was made by the local authority on the 29th August, last. The latest date for the submission of objections was the 21st September. The area has since been inspected and reported on. There has been no undue delay in the examination of the Order. There will be no avoidable delay in issuing a decision.

34.

asked the Minister for Local Government the cause of the delay in confirming the compulsory purchase order in respect of Cork Corporation's scheme for Murphy's Gardens.

There has been no undue delay in dealing with the Cork Corporation (Murphy's Gardens) Housing Order No. 2 of 1962, a decision on which will be issued to the local authority in the course of the next few days.

35.

asked the Minister for Local Government the cause of the delay in confirming the compulsory purchase order in respect of Cork Corporation's scheme for Green Lane/ Walshes Avenue.

There are two compulsory purchase orders involved in this scheme.

The Walshes Avenue Area Housing Order No. 1 of 1961 was received in my Department on the 2nd December, 1961. Action on this order was deferred at the request of the local authority pending the submission of the Green Lane Area Housing Order No. 1 of 1962, which was received on the 13th November, 1962, so that the public inquiries could be held about the same time.

Public local inquiries into these orders were held on the 12th and 13th June, 1963. The examination of the evidence of the inquiries and the inspector's reports have been completed and a decision will be issued very shortly.

36.

asked the Minister for Local Government the cause of the delay in sanctioning acceptance of the lowest tender in respect of Cork Corporation's scheme for 75 dwellings at Farrancleary, Cork city.

A ruling on the proposal in question cannot be given until a decision has been taken on the application of the Corporation for the confirmation of the Compulsory Purchase Order for the acquisition of lands at Green Lane, which are necessary to provide adequate access to the scheme. The position relating to this Order is dealt with in my reply to Question No. 35.
