asked the Minister for Local Government (a) the number of proposals submitted to his Department by Kerry County Council in connection with the erection of single rural cottages; (b) the date on which each proposal was received; (c) the last date on which a Department inspector visited Kerry in connection with the erection of cottages; and (d) the cause of the undue delay in giving sanction to the proposals submitted.

Proposals by the Kerry County Council relating to the erection of 86 cottages are at present awaiting decision in my Department. The date on which each proposal was received in my Department is indicated in a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.
An inspector of the Department was last in Kerry in the period 19th to 31st August last when he dealt with the proposals on hands at that time.
It is hoped to issue a decision in regard to 63 of the cottages shortly. Since the beginning of last March, approval has been given to the erection of 100 cottages. Work was in progress on 56 cottages at the 30th September, 1963.
It is not considered that there has been undue delay in dealing with the proposals, having regard to the volume of building work which the local authority is initiating. Efforts will, however, be made to expedite decisions, particularly in regard to all cases which the local authority consider to be urgent.
