Vol. 205 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Cottages.

62.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the undue delay in the sanction by his Department of the plans for ninetyseven cottages, some of which were submitted over eight months ago by Kerry County Council and seventeen of which have already been approved, as the Council are at a financial disadvantage owing to the hold-up in the sanction.

There has been no undue delay in dealing with proposals from Kerry County Council to build rural cottages. During the past eight months, approval has been given to the erection by the council of 177 single rural cottages and a number of grouped cottage schemes. 56 cottages were in course of construction by the council at the end of last month. Proposals for 28 further single cottages and two in a group scheme are being considered by my Department, and a decision will issue on them as soon as possible.
