Vol. 205 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - North Dublin Housing Sites.

64.

Mr. Belton

asked the Minister for Local Government whether the Dublin Corporation are acquiring land in Coolock-Raheny area for the building of Corporation houses; if Dublin Corporation will consider the purchase from the builders of houses already on the site and planned for the site by the builders at an agreed price, and thus save time in acquiring the land and erecting the houses, and encourage the private builders who had the foresight to buy and develop this land.

So far as I am aware, the only proposal by Dublin Corporation with respect to the acquisition of land in the Coolock-Raheny area for housing purposes is that contained in a compulsory purchase order relating to about 330 acres at Kilbarrack, which the Corporation submitted to me for confirmation on 26th July, 1963. Having regard to the nature of my functions in relation to the compulsory purchase order, I cannot comment on the second part of the Deputy's question in the context of the lands concerned.
