Vol. 205 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Derelict Site.

70.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the failure of the Dublin County Council to take steps under the Derelict Sites Act to acquire and properly develop a derelict site which was formerly an open drain at the junction of Fortfield Road and College Drive, Terenure, Dublin and if, as the site is a danger to children and unsightly, he will have steps taken to have the site made presentable.

I understand from inquiries made of the local authority that steps have been taken to secure clearance of the site to which the Deputy refers.

Mr. Ryan

Is the Minister in a position to state when last any steps were taken in this matter because I was advised in the same way by the local authority two years ago?

What is all the rooting and growling that is going on?

That is what I was wondering myself.

It is the noise box that was insisted on being installed against our wishes.

Does the Deputy object to it as well?

I will make inquiries to see if the position can be remedied.

The best remedy would be to root it out altogether.
