asked the Minister for Justice whether suitable sites for houses for married members of the Garda Síochána have yet been acquired in Listowel; and, if so, when work will begin on the erection of such houses.

Four houses for the accommodation of married members of the Force will be provided at Listowel by the National Building Agency Limited. The Agency have informed me that they are at present negotiating for the purchase of suitable sites. They hope to have the houses constructed next year.

65.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the need for the provision of houses for married members of the Garda Síochána in County Wexford; and what steps, if any, he is taking to meet this need.

Arrangements have been made through the National Building Agency Limited for the erection of 22 houses at various centres in County Wexford for married members of the Force. Tenders received in respect of 14 of these houses are at present being examined. Additionally, accommodation for 15 married members will be provided by the Commissioners of Public Works under schemes approved for the provision of new Garda stations in the county.

66.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the need for houses for married members of the Garda Síochána in Roscrea, Nenagh and Thurles, County Tipperary; and what steps he is taking to meet these needs.

Houses for the accommodation of married members of the Force at these centres will be provided by the National Building Agency Limited. The Agency have informed me that sites have been acquired for three houses at Roscrea and five houses at Nenagh and they expect to invite tenders shortly. Work is in progress on the construction of eight houses at Thurles.
